Indiscriminate winds blow
lifting foundations.
They peel back
economically segregated
neighborhoods
row upon row.
Killing as indiscriminately
as an unmanned drone.
Sterile, impersonal
assassinations
collateral damage
to daub and wattle homes.
We just can’t seem
to leave
well enough alone.
Projecting ideology
and values
we don’t follow
ourselves.
Do as I say,
not as I do
politics,
ethics on the shelves.
Oh but Machiavelli
would be so proud
to know the ends do
justify the means.
If not the whys,
the how’s,
the expediency
it seems.
