On the plains
was thunder,
but the sky,
clear and silent.
Earth was
disquieted
by the drumming of
countless hooves
driven
by basic instinct,
need, and hunger,
an existence
transient, violent.
With an endless wave
of life, teeming
the Serengeti thunders.
Part of the mysteries
and awe inspiring
wonders.
Anticipated pattern,
lurking
pavlovian smiles
Life and Death
reciprocity,
salivating crocodiles.
Reaching for
greener grasses,
yielding to inexorable
urge to procreate.
Life is to be
lusted after.
Only the dead
can wait.
