Maybe my approach
was too subtle,
in the interest of
suggesting a
sophisticated aesthetic.
My preference for
erring on the side of
rather than
looking desperate
and pathetic.
Then one moment
in your presence,
the dulcet tone
of your sweet hello,
I knew I had to
surrender my
pretense of cool
because you were
I felt I needed
to know.
Maybe lost on
the casual observer,
but obvious to
my every perception,
there is depth
and substance
to your spirit,
a powerful anima
without exception.
