When all we have is enough
why do we yet yearn for more?
The latest luxury automobile,
the season’s most stylish decor.
Perhaps the truth is our possessions
are no more than mere misnomers,
and in reality they are the possessors,
our existence an odyssey worthy of Homer.
Being consumed by cyclopean illusion,
marooned here on this celestial isle.
Ignoring missives from Hermes,
spirituality never goes out of style.
On this voyage through time and space,
seeking a home without that lies within.
In search for meaning in our things,
the last place we’ll find any worth mention.
