As I woke up from a deep sleep slowly,
my eyelids encrusted with hours of sleep.
My body, creaking, slowly unfolded,
from a fetal curl it wanted to keep.

I swung my legs as I sat up slowly,
placing my feet slowly onto the floor.
The tongue and groove made an answering creak,
as I slowly walked through the bedroom door.

When slowly I got the coffee started,
the percolations making my head hurt.
I knew with three lumps of sugar and cream,
slowly, to something human I’d revert.
