I see you seeing me
through that telephoto lens.
A safe distance from knowing
who I truly am.
Allowing you to project,
imagine me
as something I am not,
nor am able to be.
You think you
have me in focus,
but I am blurry
around the edges.
There are shadows
falling across my
contrasting with your
desired effect.
Yet you continue
to capture me
from many angles
seeking clarity
of my facets.
Maybe you’ll
be able to
express my vignette
once you get me
fully developed
in a dark room.
