My darling daughter, I wish to confide,
sorrow for my flaws you had to abide.
For the days and hours, I failed to attend.
We battle our demons the best we can.

Mine often seemed to have the upper hand,
because of my failure to understand.
Nothing more precious, or to be treasured,
than those that we love, by any measure.

A life not filled with family and friends,
feels painfully empty, here at the end.
As I surrender and go to my rest,
I want you to know, I loved you the best.
