I began to paint
this still life.
Inviting colors,
cool, crisp, and
vibrant,
arranged for my
consideration.
Art,
mine
to compose.
The sunset,
though fading,
affected chalcedonic
glow.
As the eggplant
grew, exponentially
to eclipse the
rainbow arrangement,
and swallow the
Terra Cotta whole
as it joined the
approaching nightfall
while the grapes
shriveled
the seeds, now husks,
forms collapsed
in decomposition
as memory
of color
fades.
