Kinectically connected,
our pathways,
cracking concrete.
Kicking pebbles
every step,
beneath scuffing heels
weeds accrete.
Along the main
thoroughfare,
meandering,
we
per- and somnambulate
Arriving too early
sometimes,
sometimes awaking
too late.
At times we go for
shortcuts,
cut corners,
employ timesaving
measures.
Anxious for
destinations
missing journey’s,
intrinsic pleasures.
Focusing on the
adjacent avenues,
boulevards,
manicured yards,
enticing neon views.
Confounded by
distractions of ego,
keeping up
appearances,
we often choose.
Bound by curbs
buffering against
the Hoi Polloi
of particle accelerators
in proximity.
Often taking the
scenic route,
though the mundane,
a path to
infinity.
