As clouds bubbled above,
beneath the frothy brume,
the wind disrespected
the sensible layers,
violated cocoons.

As it stole vowels away
from the harsh expletives
escaping chilling lips,
forcing the inhaling
of warm imperatives.

Coats flapped in surrender
while falling into ranks,
for the privilege to jump
the filthy gray puddle,
effluvious and dank.

Ice cold pellets slicing,
fall like a guillotine,
the edge sharp, indifferent.
Abrupt separation
of storm and calm between.
