Today’s Writer’s Digest PAD (Poem A Day) challenge catches me on a day when I am unmotivated to write poetry at all, so far. This little piece crept into my cranium and I share it as part of my observance of National Poetry month. Today’s prompt: A Damage poem.

Damage Done

Apology not accepted.
I wish I could be so gracious,
but I am disinclined to bow
to your sense of propriety.

You did it, know it, so own it.
Don’t pretend it didn’t happen.
The scars that remain never heal
without the balm of forgiveness.

Accept responsibility,
then perhaps we can move forward.
Don’t ask me to make it easy,
you never made it so for me.
